A day of exploration & engagement of the world’s most cutting edge physics research

The National Society for Hispanic Physicists has partnered with the Southwest Research Institute to provide physics seminars and laboratory tours to celebrate Día de la Física.

Saturday, October 13, 2018

San Antonio, Texas

Día de la Física/Day of Physics is hosted by the National Society of Hispanic Physicists (NSHP), the Southwest Research Institute (SwRI), the American Astronomical Society (AAS), and the Society for Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics & Native Americans in Science (SACNAS).

We at NSHP are invested in creating a space to bring Hispanic and Latinx physicists together to learn about cutting edge physics, create a sense of community, and to provide resources to help students and professionals connect and find mentors. This event is all-inclusive and is open and welcome to undergraduate and graduate students, in particular Hispanic/Latinx students as well as supporting mentors.

For participants attending the 2018 SACNAS National Conference, transportation will be provided between the Convention Center and the SwRI campus. The buses will leave the convention center at 10:00 AM and will return participants to the convention center at ~7:00 PM.

The city of San Antonio is the indigenous land of the Payaya people and is home to the beautiful Riverwalk, the Alamo, and a thriving and vibrant Latino community. Join us as we bring science, culture, and community to the second biggest city in Texas.

At the Southwest Research Institute, we are R&D problem solvers providing independent, premier services to government and industry clients. Our multidisciplinary nature allows us to rapidly assemble diverse teams to tackle problems from multiple directions.
